The nape is a high friction area. Hair repeatedly rubs against collars, scarves, shoulders, car seats and pillows. This movement can make strands catch and knot, especially on longer units. Perspiration and product residue may leave this area sticky, while dryness and rough or damaged strands can make knots harder to release.

Curved strands can wrap around one another and hold loose hairs within the curl pattern. Friction, dryness and rough handling can increase tangling. Curly units usually need more sectioning, conditioning and gentle detangling than straight styles. Brushing curls while dry can disrupt the pattern and increase frizz and breakage.

Human hair units are not maintenance free. Unlike hair growing from the scalp, the lengths do not receive a continuing supply of scalp oils. Some tangling during wear can occur, even with good quality hair. However, severe or recurring matting that returns soon after careful detangling should be reported for assessment; tangling alone does not establish its cause or prove poor quality or poor care.

Check the nape after wear and gently separate small knots before they tighten. Reduce rubbing against rough collars and scarves. When possible, remove your wig before sleeping and place it on a suitable stand once fully dry. If sleeping in an installed unit, loosely secure the lengths and use a satin or silk bonnet or pillowcase. Do not sleep with wet hair.

Work in small sections. Dampen the lengths and apply a suitable conditioner or detangling product for slip, following its instructions. Support the hair above each knot to avoid pulling on lace, knots or wefts. Use your fingers first, then a wide tooth comb, starting at the ends and moving upwards. Never force a comb through a mat. Keep heavy conditioner and oils away from attachment points and adhesive areas.

Cleanse when sweat or residue builds up, using products suitable for the unit and its installation. Keep the lengths aligned and avoid rubbing, twisting or piling the hair into a ball. Condition the lengths, rinse thoroughly and blot gently with a soft towel. Follow the unit’s drying instructions and let the hair and base dry fully before storage. Use a light leave in product if needed; excess oil or cream can cause buildup.

Refresh curls with a little water and a suitable lightweight styling product, then allow them to settle without repeated brushing. Limit heat and use heat protectant when heat styling is suitable for the unit. Bleaching, colouring and repeated heat can increase dryness and tangling. Seek professional advice before chemical processing. Store clean, dry hair neatly to avoid compression and knots.

If matting is severe, stop pulling, cutting or adding more products and contact us promptly. Send clear photos or a short video, your order details, when the tangling began, and the products and care methods used. We will review the concern and advise on the next step, which may include inspecting the unit. Each concern is assessed on its own facts.

Normal maintenance needs, manageable tangling and changes caused by wear do not automatically indicate a product defect or create a right to a refund. Damage caused by incorrect care, unsuitable products, excessive heat or chemical processing is assessed separately from a fault present when the hair was supplied. We do not automatically assume that all tangling is caused by customer care.

Contact us promptly if you believe your unit is faulty, materially different from what you ordered, or repeatedly mats despite suitable care. Please provide proof of purchase and clear details of the concern. Avoid further colouring, cutting or processing while the concern is being assessed. An assessment does not remove any remedy available under law.
